Dear Colleagues, Apologies for those who have already seen this: Very briefly: We are organizing the annual Summer School on Service-Oriented Computing in Crete, Greece. I would be delighted to meet you in Crete and discuss with you possible ways for you to participate. The Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) Summer School (SummerSoc) brings together the best international experts on software and services with PhD students, young researchers and professionals from leading academic, research and industrial organizations across Europe and around the world. Students who attend the Erasmus Mundus International Master Program on Service Engineering (IMSE) <http://www.erasmusmundus-imse.eu/> participate in the Summer School as part of their study program. Topics span the entire field of SOC from conceptual foundations to industrial applications. For more information please visit: <http://www.summersoc.eu/>http://www.summersoc.eu The Schools Directors <http://www.summersoc.eu/steering-committee> are internationally known experts and researchers on SOC. This year the major themes <http://www.summersoc.eu/time-schedule> of SummerSoc will be: Conceptual Foundations, Computing in the Clouds, People in SOCs and New Emerging Topics. In addition, as in previous years, we will have a special session where PhD candidates can present their thesis, sessions for presenting running state-of-the-art FP7 projects on Services, System Architectures, Infrastructures and Engineering (SSAIE), a visit to the archaeological sites of Knossos and Festos, and of course for relaxation, a program rich in social events (a new this year beach party, visit to a traditional Cretan village, etc.). I would like to ask for your help to encourage PhD candidates/graduate students you may be working with, and who are doing research in the area of service science/engineering to apply for participation to the PhD Presentations and Discussion Session at the Summer SOC 2011. The session will be a forum for PhD Students at which they can present and discuss their PhD theses with the committee of very well known professors in the fields of service science, service oriented computing, cloud computing, BPM and workflow. The PhD Session Committee will provide feedback to the PhD Students on the methodology used and the presented results, and help improve the quality of the PhD Theses. The PhD thesis topic must be related to the Summer School subject and may be related to and present results from projects in cooperation with industry and also EU funded projects. You can find more details at: http://www.summersoc.eu/phd-session Thanks for your help and looking forward to seeing all in Crete in June! best christos __________________________________ Christos Nikolaou Professor Transformation Services Lab, CSD, UoC http://www.tsl.gr
