I’d love to the keynote (it would probably be best as an opening keynote) and to organise a hackathon using Pulse (as I’m not sure whether Heartbeat/Waystone will be public by then). Jo can help with dates. Also, we usually do ask for an honorarium to compensate Ind.ie for my time away — Jo, given they’re non-profit, please send them our non-profit rates.) Looking forward to this — thanks again for thinking of us. Take care, Aral — Aral Balkan Ind.ie On Nov 26, 2014, at 2:48 PM, Panagiotis Stathopoulos <panagiotis [ dot ] stathopoulos [ at ] gmail [ dot ] com> wrote: Dear Aral, I am writing as a member of the Greek Free/Open Source Software community and the Greek Free/Open Source Software society (www.ellak.gr). As I have written previously ELLAK is in the process of organizing an Open, free entrance two day workshop, in Athens, with the cooperation of InnovaAthens, the Innovation Hub of the Municipality of Athens (http://www.innovathens.gr/). CC on the email are also, Mr. Karounos, the president of the society and ELLAK secretariat info [ at ] ellak [ dot ] gr, which will be responsible for the organization of the event, I am making the initial connection hereJ The (provisional) title of the event is “Innovating Privacy”, and will focus around the areas of Privacy, Security, Free/Open Source technologies and the possibilities these areas offer for innovation. It will aim to bring greater visibility to these issues, the problems that users are facing and the opportunities they arise. The first day of the event will be aimed at developers, designers, entrepreneurs, public sector and private sector organization, and the general public. Based on your extensive experience on the areas, that are very much closely related to the event, we would like to invite you, to have a 45 minutes keynote talk, aiming at highlighting privacy problems and innovation opportunities in order to solve these problems. The FOSS community is quite vibrant in Athens, both in developers and community terms and we are expecting that there will be quite significant attendance, feedback and visibility after the event. In the second day of the event a hackathon/workshop will take place. This will be targeted towards seasoned developers, and we expect to be a great opportunity to present a Free Software project. Mature, high impact projects, that need contributors are preferable (I suppose Pulse, FOSS Swift version Phoenix or anything from https://github.com/aralwill do:) ) We would like to invite you as the main event speaker and hackathon/workshop organizer. We can work out the specific date together, the best time is in February for us, but please define two alternative candidate dates that suit you, in order to check with the availability of the event hall, other organizers etc. Travel expenses, hotel etc are covered by the organisers, please state any further requirements you might have, please take into account that the event is organized by non profit public organisationsJ Looking forward to hear from you, All the best, Panagiotis -- http://www.eellak.gr/, http://mycontent.ellak.gr/, http://www.creativecommons.gr/, http://mathe.ellak.gr/, http://fablabathens.gr/, http://ma.ellak.gr/
