Σου γράφω για μια σημαντική ευρωπαϊκή πρωτοβουλία που αφορά άμεσα το μέλλον
της ακαδημαϊκής έρευνας και καινοτομίας.

Το OpenForum Europe προωθεί τη δημιουργία του EU Sovereign Tech Fund
(EU-STF), ενός ταμείου 350 εκ. ευρώ για τη στήριξη κρίσιμων υποδομών
ανοιχτού κώδικα. Συλλέγουμε υπογραφές από ακαδημαϊκούς και ερευνητικούς
φορείς για δημόσια επιστολή προς την ΕΕ ενόψει του Πολυετούς Δημοσιονομικού
Πλαισίου 2028-2034.

Το Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών, με την ισχυρή παράδοση στην Πληροφορική και τις
Ψηφιακές Τεχνολογίες, την ηγετική θέση στην ελληνική έρευνα και τη
συμμετοχή σε ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα, αποτελεί φυσικό υποστηρικτή αυτής της
πρωτοβουλίας. Οι ερευνητές και φοιτητές σας χρησιμοποιούν καθημερινά
ανοιχτό λογισμικό για την έρευνα, από υπολογιστική μοντελοποίηση έως
ανάλυση δεδομένων. Η βιώσιμη χρηματοδότηση αυτών των εργαλείων είναι
κρίσιμη για τη συνέχιση της ερευνητικής αριστείας και την ψηφιακή αυτονομία
της Ευρώπης.

Η υποστήριξή σου θα ενισχύσει σημαντικά το μήνυμα προς τους ευρωπαίους
υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής. Η προθεσμία υπογραφής είναι 10 Οκτωβρίου.

feasibility study and delivered it to key government officials including

to this email. The report and policy primer call for making the EU-STF a
priority in the upcoming 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework
negotiations

and
establishing Member State commitments to pooled financing that allows
Europe to scale up investment beyond fragmented national efforts.



*Why this matters to businesses:* More than 70% of modern software depends
on open source software and components, yet chronic under-investment in
their maintenance creates systemic vulnerabilities that expose European
businesses to security threats, supply chain risks, and vendor lock-in.
Left unattended, a failure to diversify the pool of investment available to
secure and maintain open source software components risks directly impact
operational resilience, regulatory compliance under new legislation like
the Cyber Resilience Act, and competitive positioning in global markets.



*We need your voice: *We are gathering signatures from industry leaders,
open source projects, researchers, and civil society organisations for a
public letter to EU policymakers to encourage them not to sideline
