Hi Javier and Sebastià, I’m Ruslan, a Data Science student based in Germany, and I’m very interested in the GSoC 2025 project to improve Docker-based production deployment for Consul Democracy. I've been exploring a bit the current setup (Dockerfile, docker-compose.yml, docker-entrypoint.sh) and started outlining a proposal centered on Kamal and devcontainers. Before finalizing my proposal, I had a few small questions: 1. Would using DockerHub or GitHub Container Registry for Kamal deployments be fine, or should we also consider institutions that rely on private registries? 2. Do you expect the devcontainer to be mostly used in GitHub Codespaces, or primarily as a way to simplify local development setup? 3. Right now, secrets seem to be stored in files like secrets.yml and deploy-secrets.yml. For the Docker-based setup, is the idea to move toward using .env files and environment variables, or is that still undecided? 4. Also, I was curious — do you see Docker-based standardization helping future tools like Consul Analytics? When we were building this analytics platform during the Hackathon in Würzburg and later, we noticed the decentralized setups made it hard to collect (scrape) consistent data across cities. I wonder if more structured deployments could help reduce that friction in the long run? Thanks so much for your time! I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute and help make Consul Democracy more accessible and maintainable for everyone. Best regards, *Ruslan Tsibirov*
