Dear Mentors of OpenTRIM team, My name is Srinivasa Puranik and I'm a second-year Computer Science student. I’ve been looking through the GFOSS project list for GSoC 2026 and OpenTRIM really caught my eye because I’ve always been into math and logical problem-solving. I’ve already spent some time looking at the GitHub repo. The idea of building a real-time 3D visualization tool for ion tracks sounds like a great challenge, especially since I'm looking to improve my C++ and Qt skills. I’m currently trying to set up the build environment on my laptop to see the current GUI in action. While I do that, I wanted to ask if there are any specific "starter" bugs or small UI tasks I could look at? I’d love to contribute something small now to get a better feel for the codebase before the application period starts. Looking forward to hearing from you!
