Educators who are interested to teach, design educational scenarios and
produce the required educational material for special courses in
*Python*, *Physical
Computing* and *Educational Content Creation* should express their interest *by
completing this form* <https://ellak.gr/educator-application/>*. *
*Job Description*

Every course consists of 4 (every Saturday for 1 month) 3-hour lessons
(total 12 hours ), the educational materials will be in English and adapted
for mixed courses (Greek and refugee teenagers), the educational materials
and the exercises will be developed in elearning modules for moodle
<https://moodle.org/>, all educational materials will be implemented in
https://elearn.ellak.gr/ and will be made available with Creative Commons
License <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/>.  The teachers will be
reimbursed for developing the teaching materials and teaching the courses.
*Requirements*

   - Teaching experience in synchronous and asynchronous environments
   - Thorough knowledge of the subject
   - Knowledge of creating and operating courses in the Moodle platform
   <https://moodle.org/>.

*Teaching Units*

1) *The Beginning Computer Programming Course *is an introduction to the
basic concepts of coding through the use of the Python programming
language. Students must become familiar with the basic principles of
programming and computational thinking. At the end of the course they will
be able to develop simple programs involving graphics and movement.

*Week One:* Installing Python, Calculations & Variables, Strings, Lists,
Tuples, Maps.

*Week Two:* Moving the Python Turtle, IF and ELSE, Loops and Modules.

*Week Three:* Classes, Objects, Functions and Modules.

*Week Four:* Python Turtle Graphics.

The *Beginning Computer Programming Course will be taught in May 2017.*



*2) The Advanced Coding course* is an introduction to the concept of
physical computing,  working with microcontrollers, sensors and motors. On
completion of this module, students must  be able to design, adapt and
program a simple 3d printed robot with basic sensors and movement
capability.

*Week One:* Working with sensors and motors – Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi
programming.

*Week Two:* Designing and 3d printing a small robot.

*Week Three: *Systems integration.

*Week Four:* Testing & troubleshooting.



*3)The Content Creation course *is an introduction  to the concept of
producing and editing text, images, sound and video. On completion of this
module, students must  be able to work with these different media types
using open source tools and share their work by publishing it final on the
web using a content management system and/or a wiki.

*Week One: *Working with text and images.

*Week Two: *Sound capture and editing.

*Week Three: *Recording and editing video.

*Week Four: *Publishing content on a CMS/wiki.

The *Advanced Coding course & the Content Creation course* *will be taught
in June 2017.*
